Designing & Deploying a SEID
The design and deployment of each SEID is managed by the SEID Centre of Excellence, a multi-disciplined Symantec team, collaborating to deliver and support SEIDs. The Centre of Excellence works closely with key stakeholders, using a goal-directed methodology, to design a SEID to meet the organisation's exact needs. Having created the design a rapid prototyping process is undertaken to configure the first functional module(s) on the SEID Engine within a few weeks of a SEID project commencing.
The SEID is then configured to automatically collect IT risk information from appropriate sources. This information is collated with asset and organisation data allowing contextually rich information to be derived.
Once the data model is populated, the information is securely distributed to stakeholders via personalised dashboards, allowing them to visualise relevant information. They can then further annotate the information with analysis, interpretations and observations, thus creating rich intelligence to roll up to the IT and business management teams.
By engaging stakeholders in this process and providing visibility of their performance, there is an increase in accountability across the organisation. In addition, the intelligence collected can support both internal and external audit processes. As a result, the overall management of IT risk is dramatically improved.
